How to Stop OCD Thoughts
If you ever wonder what really is anxiety, panic attacks, OCD and phobias and have the perception that they are some kind of illness. Let me assure you that they ARE NOT illnesses. They are NEITHER mental nor physical illnesses. They are behavioral circumstances which have resulted from an adjustment in the subliminal mind in the Amygdala. The Amygdala, like a light switch, is either anxiety ON or anxiety OFF. Under normal circumstances this is only triggered when Evident danger took place. In anxiety conditions, the ‘switch’ gets artificially stuck in the ON position, causing consistent anxiety symptoms even when no REAL danger exists.
Genuine anxiety can ONLY exist when there is something present to be afraid of! If you experience fear when not anything dangerous is present, you are not undergoing TRUE anxiety. That makes sense doesn’t it? What you are getting is an inappropriate reactions of the Amygdala, NOT true fear! This causes sensations and sensations, such as panic attacks, which are in fact the effect of an over-stimulated, apprehensive mind. This causes an ‘anxiety disorder’. The label ‘disorder ‘implies bad health, which is why I mainly refer to anxiety disorders as ‘conditions’. Your anxiety is not a disorder, it’s not an illness and it absolutely doesn’t require a doctor.
Your Amygdala has been re-set at a higher-than-normal level of anxiety and it is THIS which causes your unsuitable anxiety and all the associated sensations and thoughts you experience. So what exists to make all these changes? In reality, these changes are not so troublesome to accomplish and always occur subconsciously! No one intentionally ‘wants’ them to appear. All this happens as a result of a formation called Operant Conditioning. A famous scientific investigation is the best example of Operant Conditioning – it’s termed Pavlov’s Dogs.
Pavlov rang a bell when he fed his dogs. Eventually he could make the dogs salivate just by ringing the bell… the power of suggestion and conditioning is greatly forceful indeed and the dogs in the course of time created a mental link BELL = FOOD. The bell was communicating directly with the dog’s subconscious mind to produce a physical reaction! Rather like someone salivating when it is suggested that they should suck a lemon. Even though no lemon is present, the suggestion alone is good enough to cause your mouth water.
Try it now; have in mind about a cold juicy lemon, can you gather the scent in the air? Now visualize picking it up and biting into it as the juices flow over your tongue! Did you feel yourself salivate? Most people do. Even through a website, it is possible for someone else to make your mouth water… can you see how efficiently your mind can put together symptoms through suggestion? Anxiety is conditioned in exactly the same manner.
We become ‘re-programed’ to respond with anxiety and/or panic attacks even when it is irrelevant. When anxiety levels reach a certain point, we encounter panic attacks, phobias, obsessions and all the other physical and psychological manifestations of anxiety. We have become familiarized to be anxious all the time… what a nightmare!
This is the reason why you respond so negatively to even the smallest thing with anxiety, panic attacks and other symptoms, it is why your life is consumed by high anxiety and you no longer cope like you used to. It is the particular cause of every panic attack, anxiety attack, thought, sensation, symptom or pain you experience.
