Among the many symptoms that are faced by an obsessive compulsive disorder sufferers one of the most common ones are intrusive thoughts and images. It it written in many historical text that this symptoms have been plaguing humans of all races and religious beliefs from all over the world. What this means is, they are in reality HARMLESS, although can be very annoying and bothersome. When you know that are very common and harmless, you should feel more confident and less anxious when dealing with intrusive thoughts. The next time you experience unwanted thoughts, say to yourself this statements:
The thoughts/images that are bothering me are NOT true. They are the product of my subconscious mind "what ifs’ reactions. This factual statement is verified by medical specialist. So no cause of alarm.

Since they are common and harmless, I am not losing my mind or going mad. If they are signs of madness, millions and millions of people throughout the world who have these symptoms would have become crazy too, but they did not.
